“The source of human motivation and our best work comes from the drive towards autonomy, mastery, and purpose.”

Dan Pink

Highlights from Dan Pink’s quote:

  • Autonomy
  • Mastery
  • Purpose

What is your purpose?

Jeremiah 32:39 GNB I will give them a single purpose in life: to honor me for all time, for their own good and the good of their descendants.

Psalms 33:11 GNB But his plans endure forever; his purposes last eternally.

Romans 8:28 GNB We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose.

2 Corinthians 8:21 GNB Our purpose is to do what is right, not only in the sight of the Lord but also in the sight of others.

Philippians 1:27 GNB Now, the important thing is that your way of life should be as the gospel of Christ requires, so that, whether or not I am able to go and see you, I will hear that you are standing firm with one common purpose and that with only one desire you are fighting together for the faith of the gospel.

Do you have autonomy over yourself?

Romans 8:30 GNB And so those whom God set apart, he called; and those he called, he put right with himself, and he shared his glory with them.

Romans 7:25 GNB Thanks be to God, who does this through our Lord Jesus Christ! This, then, is my condition: on my own, I can serve God’s law only with my mind, while my human nature serves the law of sin.

Philippians 2:1 GNB Your life in Christ makes you strong, and his love comforts you. You have fellowship with the Spirit, and you have kindness and compassion for one another.

Galatians 5:1 GNB Freedom is what we have — Christ has set us free! Stand, then, as free people, and do not allow yourselves to become slaves again.

What have you mastered and who is your master?

1 John 5:5 GNB Who can defeat the world? Only the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

2 Timothy 1:7 GNB For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control.

Luke 10:19 GNB Listen! I have given you authority so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and nothing will hurt you.

Romans 8:37 NIV No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Our Lord has given us full autonomy. We are not of this world but of him. He set us apart for Himself and shared His glory with us. What a divine status?

■ Christ is our one and only Master. In Him, we overcome the world and indeed masters of this world. We can do all things through Him who strengthens us.

■ Now we can live according to the purpose of God’s call on our lives, and everything will work out for our good.
